Trusted Local Hearing Care Available For Ridgefield, CT
Originally part of Wallingford, Cheshire, CT was settled in 1694, known as New Cheshire Parish, becoming an independent town in 1780. As an early settlement in New England, our community is home to several National Register of Historic Places sites, like the Cheshire Historic and Marion Historic Districts, the Farmington Canal Lock, and the First Congregational Church of Cheshire.
The 300-year-old community of Ridgefield, CT is located in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains and was first settled by English colonists from Norwalk and Milford in 1708 after purchasing land from Chief Catoonah of the Ramapo Lenape Nation. Spurred by the arrival of the railroad to our community in the late 1800s, wealthy New Yorkers began to build large estates and “summer cottages” in the area.
Dozens of massive estates like those of Col. Louis D. Conley (2,000 acres), Seth Low Pierrepont (600 acres), Frederic E. Lewis (100 acres), and Col. Edward M. Knox (300 acres with a 45-room mansion often visited by Mark Twain) became unaffordable and unwieldy during and after the Great Depression, and most were broken up. In place of stately mansions came subdivisions of one and two-acre lots, turning the town into a suburban, bedroom community, though retaining much of the town’s 19th and early 20th-century charm.
Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals is the leading industry in Ridgefield, which focuses a great deal more on the dozen National Register of Historic Places and outdoor recreational opportunities that draw attention to the town, as well as the Nutmeg Festival celebrated each August, the Antiques Flea Market held every June, and a local farmers market on Thursdays during the summer months.
Grand estates are one way to enjoy a higher quality of living, but so is your capacity to enjoy the little things in life, like interacting with family, friends, and neighbors. These all are greatly enhanced by better hearing. Dr. Bauman, a major contributor in the field of audiology worldwide and co-founder of AVI New England, gives Ridgefield individuals an opportunity to enjoy a richer lifestyle through personalized and local solutions that address hearing loss, tinnitus, sound sensitivity issues, balance disorders, and other hearing care services offered at our Norwalk, CT clinic.
