Trusted Local Hearing Care Available For West Haven, CT

Originally part of Wallingford, Cheshire, CT was settled in 1694, known as New Cheshire Parish, becoming an independent town in 1780. As an early settlement in New England, our community is home to several National Register of Historic Places sites, like the Cheshire Historic and Marion Historic Districts, the Farmington Canal Lock, and the First Congregational Church of Cheshire.

West Haven, CT, originally West Farms, was part of the original 1648 New Haven Colony. During the Revolutionary War, our community was a popular launch point for both British and Colonial raiding parties.

Though our community is among the oldest in Connecticut, West Haven is ironically labeled as the state’s youngest city due to its struggles to incorporate as an independent city, which was a part of Orange, CT until 1921 and did not gain full independence until 1961. In spite of being latecomers among cities, the West Haven Green is a National Registered of Historic Places site, as are other community features like the American Mills Web Shop (also known as the East Coast Loose Leaf Company, Inc.), Old West Haven High School, Union School, and the Ward-Heitman House.

Our community has played a significant role in the commerce of the region and the US, providing a home for Armstrong Rubber Co. Coleco (originally Connecticut Leather Company- later the toy & video game manufacturer) and Sikorsky Aircraft, as well as a headquarters for Bayer Pharmaceuticals North America until 2006. West Haven is also the location of the University of New Haven, a U.S. Veterans Affairs hospital, and Yale Field.
