Trusted Local Hearing Care Available For Meriden, CT
Originally part of Wallingford, Cheshire, CT was settled in 1694, known as New Cheshire Parish, becoming an independent town in 1780. As an early settlement in New England, our community is home to several National Register of Historic Places sites, like the Cheshire Historic and Marion Historic Districts, the Farmington Canal Lock, and the First Congregational Church of Cheshire.
Like most of the towns in New England, Meriden, CT began with the placement of a meetinghouse and green, which drew the community together. Our community began to thrive in the late 1800s as the manufacture of silver and cutlery, lamps and metalware, glassware, kitchen appliances, guns, and musical instruments (including player pianos) transformed it into an industrial center.
Much of our community’s fame faded until after World War II when Meriden was on the international map as a site for design innovation thanks to the Miller Company Collection of Abstract Art, and later the Emily Hall Tremaine Foundation, established by the notable art collector, which addresses learning disabilities, the arts, and the environment.
Our history and culture have been kept alive thanks to more than a half-dozen National Registry of Historic Places sites, including Hubbard Park’s Castle Craig, the Curtis Memorial Library, Red Bridge, the Solomon Goffe House, and several others. Our community’s quiet way of life promotes opportunities to interact with nature along the Meriden Linear Trail, Mattabesett Trail, and the Metacomet Trail.
Being able to hear better keeps you connected with the world around you, enhancing your lifestyle and enriching your quality of life.
